Dear Mr. President, MAAC Board of Directors and Executives Members,

It is with a heavy heart that I submit my resignation from my position as Zone C Director for British Columbia Interior and the Yukon at MAAC, effective immediately.  After much consideration, I have decided that I can no longer work in the toxic environment that has been allowed to develop within the organization.

The unprofessional behavior and lack of accountability exhibited by certain members of the board and the executive has created an unbearable work environment. It is disappointing to see that the board has failed to recognize the severity of the situation and take the necessary steps to address it.

The lack of leadership, support, communication, and respect for one another has made it impossible for me to continue to work with the BOD or MAAC. The constant negativity, blame-shifting, bullying and finger-pointing  has further caused other Zone Directors of the board to resign.  It is very clear that the board needs to wake up, and take responsibility for the state of the organization.  It is disheartening to leave an organization that I once had a great respect for and believed in so much and had a great interest in, but I cannot continue to work in a place that is so pathetically unprofessional.

As you are aware, the issues within the organization have been left unaddressed for far too long, and the situation has only continued to deteriorate. The lack of accountability, transparency, and transparency to its “Members Based Organization” and professionalism exhibited by certain members of the board and executive team has created a culture of negativity and toxicity that is unacceptable within the BOD and the entire organization.  Because of this extreme toxicity, it has escalated even further and affected members themselves, to the point that the Deputy Zone Director and eight Assistant Zone Directors from the Zone C, who are key players in the success of MAAC for our zone, have also resigned (see attached letters).  It is very sad that countless members and clubs are leaving the organization because of what appears to be one individual who constantly and consistently is bullying the BOD, and the executive, with no respect or accountability for his actions, but insists everyone else must be accountable for their actions.

The Safety Advisory Group and the Transport Advisory Group should be replaced immediately and I can only hope the BOD recognizes the impact of the current situation and the effect it has not only on the BOD but our Zone and its members and entire MAAC organization of Canada and its future existence.  I strongly suggest the BOD  put forth a motion to immediately disband the SAG and the TCAG, as it is currently known, before more BOD members resign.   If this motion/vote were to happen and passed, the Zone C Directors may consider coming back to work for the organization and it members.  If not, it will continue to display a blatant disregard for it members.

Once again, I urge the board and executive team, to take immediate action, to address the underlying problems, that have led to the resignation of multiple key members of the organization.  It is totally unacceptable.  I would also expect that other BOD members will be leaving soon because of the volatile situation.

I want to express my gratitude to you and the rest of the leadership team for the opportunities you have given me to serve this organization. I will always value the relationships and experiences I have gained while working with you.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to facilitate a smooth transition in my absence.

The entire Zone C MAAC Director, AZD and DZD (10 total) resigned at 11am PST.  ( BC Interior / Yukon )
We are now on our own.

To whom it may concern
I Todd Davis am formally stepping down as assistant zone director effective immediately.
Previous dealings with the Safety Advisory Group and current dealings will them as well have let me to see that until this particular and the rest of that group are removed there is no productive future for MAAC and its member.
I have been an active flyer since the early 1980s, model aviation is my first love and passion. I
took on a Co Chairman status with the late Milt Barsky years ago when the Youth and Beginner
Committee was around due to my love of dealing with Youth. The Youth part was removed a few years ago and I had been trying to restart a youth committee as it is a very important part of the hobby, without youth we will have no hobby in the future, with the current SAG group this is not possible. The beginner part of the committee was then renamed by the SAG committee to the Learning to fly committee. A new flight training document was then imposed on my committee by the SAG with the stated need of it being a TC requirement, we all now know that under part IX of the CAR’S there is no such need for flight training in the regs. This was all a complete lie. In the last few months since this indiviidual borad member convinced his board to pull the plug on our TC exemption I have put in many requests for information to the SAG and have receive no information back but have received BULLISH UNPROFESSIONAL responses to me and insults directed at my ZD, Cowboy Roland. Information obtained from reading responses on RCCanada has also lead me to believe that this board member most likely is in a direct conflict of interest with is involvement with the RPASWilco app.
It is openly known that he was involved in the creation of the app and as such likely has something to gain from profits in the developer company. I can not and will not serve with someone on the board who thinks this is proper.
Yours sincerely
Todd Davis

From Carl’s post on RCCanada:
Actually, the last thing I ever thought I’d do was resign. I just couldn’t stay knowing what I know now, and knowing I couldn’t affect the right kind of change in the menagerie that were the Board of Directors meetings (and emails) when expressing critical thought. I’ll still be here to serve the next ZD as AZD if that person so wishes. I would be happy to bring their authorized messages to clubs and vice versa. But resigning was the best thing to do atm so that there was less polarization in the meetings. A move I hope will hasten progress to the ends, and the changes, envisioned by the “Experts”. Maybe in the future.

Another Resignation – 02 October 2023: Leslie Farkas – Southeast Ontario – Zone L
Dear Zone L members,

As things were evolving for the past nine months, I reached the conclusion that I am unable to represent and protect the interest of our members. Therefore I have tendered my resignation as the Zone L director. I would like to thank all the members who placed their thrust in me and I hope that I lived up to their expectation. The ones who feel otherwise, I can assure you that it was not for the lack of me trying.

It appears that a few members from the Manitoba Zone haves tarted to rattle their swords again and want to initiate changes to our Constitution. Hereby I urge you to get involved and make sure that our association’s seventy-four years of history and it’s future is protected!

I would like to wish you all the best and that you can enjoy our sport/hobby for many more years to come.

Sincerely,

Leslie Farkas

And yet another Resignation – 03 December 2023: Phil Dessureault – Albert – Zone A
Dear Zone L members,

Hello All Zone A Members, Friends and Colleagues,

This last few weeks / months have been quite challenging.

I came to the conclusion that my vision of MAAC no longer fit with the direction the executive is taking. The lack of respect, communication and openness with our members has greatly affected my love for the hobby.

In order to regain the passion that I had for this hobby since I was a young boy, I need to remove myself from all associations with MAAC. I have decided to resign from all of my positions at MAAC, Zone A Director, Executive Committee and Large Model Chair.

Effective immediately.

Thank you all for your support!

Cheers and Happy Flying….

Phil.
